Case Study

Renewable Energy Hub

Wind turbines

TransGrid needed to conduct a full feasibility study into their proposal for the development of a Renewable Energy “Hub.” Advisian developed a commercial and legal structure for the Hub development, including a financial model demonstrating the financial outcome for TransGrid.

The situation

TransGrid needed to conduct a full feasibility study into their proposal for the development of a Renewable Energy “Hub” – a common connection point to the transmission grid for multiple generators – in the New England region of NSW.

Our approach

Working closely with TransGrid, ARENA, the generators and other specialist advisers, Advisian developed a commercial and legal structure for the Hub development, including a financial model demonstrating the financial outcome for TransGrid. Advisian managed the production of the major Feasibility Study and authored the accompanying Knowledge Sharing Report which will ultimately be a public document.

Results

Advisian’s commercial, project finance and technical skills allowed us to devise a commercial solution for the Hub development that will meet TransGrid’s needs for security and flexibility. Our technical and management consulting skills enabled us to contribute to technical solutions and deliver two high quality reports which provide the basis for a future investment decision by TransGrid.
